The Fichtner Group

Our Model for Success: Networking

Success has many faces. That is a nice saying and also an apt description of the Fichtner Group. Networking the expertise of our more than two thousand employees worldwide across all business sectors once again set the Fichtner Group apart in 2022, allowing it to continue to grow and be successful.

Our Structure

Fichtner draws from existing departments to build variable, multidisciplinary project teams for each job in order to achieve goals efficiently. However, if you tried to represent all employees and projects in an organizational chart, it would probably resemble a spider’s web. Since the complexity that infrastructure projects have to solve today and in the future is constantly increasing, we are convinced that our international and interdisciplinary networking in the way we think and act not only reflects the spirit of the Fichtner Group but is a prerequisite for joint success.

Our Expertise

Fichtner has developed into one of Germany’s leading independent engineering and consulting companies of international renown. Our combination of technical planning and consulting with classical business consulting services is what sets us apart.

In our Energy, Renewable Energies & Environment, Water & Infrastructure, and Consulting & IT business sectors, we stand for a high level of expertise and quality, innovative, sustainable solutions to problems, and efficient use of resources. Independent consulting and tailored solutions are at the heart of everything we do and once again proved convincing to our clients in the past year, with all four business sectors achieving year-on-year growth in 2022.

Our employees

We continue to grow despite all crises, adding 130 employees in 2022 for a total headcount of 2,011 worldwide. More than 950 of them work at our head office in Stuttgart. They are mainly engineers, but also include economists, consultants and IT experts from various disciplines.

Our Internationality

The Fichtner Group is at home all over the world. It has project experience in more than 170 countries, locations in 60 countries, and long-standing, experienced employees from 66 nations.

Our Clients

Our Group’s client portfolio includes public and private sector infrastructure providers such as energy utilities, local authorities, municipal utilities, water supply and sanitation companies as well as waste management and transport services. We also work with development and commercial banks, private investors, industrial enterprises, and government institutions such as ministries and research establishments.

A Variety of Topics, Including the Future

Our portfolio of services covers all project phases, ranging from fundamental studies of investment opportunities, to comprehensive services in the planning, contract award and implementation of projects, through to support with operating complex plants and facilities.

The Year 2022

The past year was not an easy one. High inflation, high energy prices, and geopolitical uncertainties have gradually weakened the momentum of the German economy. Under those circumstances, the Fichtner Group closed the 2022 financial year with a good overall performance: Our planned values for order intake, gross operating revenues, earnings before taxes, and headcount were all exceeded. In terms of gross operating revenues, the Group recorded an increase of 17.0% year-on-year, which is testament to our services and our business management.

A Look Ahead

For 2023, we expect economic development in Europe to remain difficult. Nevertheless, our planning assumes a stabilization of the Group-wide positive development in order intake and gross operating revenues. The development in the first few months gives us good reason to hope that we will continue to develop the Fichtner Group positively in 2023 within the planned framework.

Above all, however, it is the talents and the exceptional team spirit of our employees that make me optimistic that in the 101st year of Fichtner’s existence we will again be able to achieve the goals we have set together, make a productive contribution to the energy transition and, within the scope of our tasks, contribute to solving the numerous infrastructure challenges worldwide.
